Trout fishing on the Muskegon is getting good!  In just over a hour we had a dozen trout brought to net last night using small green caddis pupae with a couple trout over the 15″ mark.  Pictured is a very nice football size brown that was just as fat as it was long.  These trout are really turning on to the fly activity from early afternoon to dark in select spots.  The afternoon hatch is strong!  The next few weeks will provide some of the best trout fishing of the fall, especially as more salmon begin to come in and spawn.

Salmon are starting to “sniff gravel” in a few areas throughout the river system although the numbers are small right now and wide spread.  Look for the salmon to turn on as the water temperatures slowly creep down below the 60 degree point.  If we ever get much needed rain the salmon should turn on very quickly.  Pictured is a beautiful healthy female salmon that fell to a clown egg pattern.

We still have a few prime fishing dates available for salmon, steelhead, and trout on October 16, 17, & 18.  Give us a call for some of the best river fishing of the year!
