Here’s the start of a gray drake hatch on the Muskegon river.

Pictures never do these trout justice as to their true size.  I think Jim would agree, pound for pound, these bows and browns are some of the hardest fighting fish you can handle on a five weight fly rod with dry flies.

The gray drake hatch is in full effect on the Muskegon river right now.  The trout fishing has been good.  Several different fly hatches are available throughout the river system with the gray drakes taking center stage in both the mornings and evenings.
