The Muskegon river salmon run seems to be at its peak right now. Regardless of all the “doom & gloom” reports of low salmon numbers due to a 75% reduction in stocking by the DNR the Muskegon river has had a very good run this fall. Seems to be a confirmation of the strong natural reproduction the Muskegon river offers.
Despite the low and clear water conditions more steelhead and lake run browns continue to enter the river system. Cooler temperatures and much needed rain in the forecast will bring more steelhead in the next coming days.
