Muskegon River Steelhead (4/27/13)

Some people fish for weeks to catch and land their first steelhead, others do it within the first few hours of the day.  Here’s Jeff’s son Blake with his first ever steelhead on a fly rod!  This awesome double stripe 28″ 10 lb buck struck from behind the boat during Blake’s retrieve as he stripped in line from the end of his swing.  The lightning fast strike almost yanked the fly rod out of Blake’s hand.

As a fishing guide on the Muskegon river few things give me more joy then seeing a client catch their first steelhead.  Granted most people don’t get the opportunity to land such a huge fish, Blake did!  Great job today Blake!
