Muskegon River Steelhead Fishing Report (3/9/13)

The morning bite was key for us today.  Couple of things made it challenging; water levels dropped & the clarity is improving.  Regardless, Jeff from GR put some great Michigan Steelhead in the boat!

Look for this weekend’s warm up to help  melt significant amounts of snow.  This fast run off will bring higher water levels and trigger an instant push of large amounts of fresh steelhead instantly.  Look for fishing to strongly improve each day as we grow closer to the magic 42 degree water temps.

We’re also proud to announce our Michigan Bone Fish guided trips starting this August!  If you’ve never experienced the sheer power of these “epic” Michigan game fish…. give us a call!!

On a more serious side, Fly Fire River Guide Service offers excellent trout fishing here on the Muskegon river in Michigan.  Nothing better in trout fishing than hunting down 18″ to 20+” trout  with dry flies.  Peak trout fishing is  quickly approaching.  May brings some excellent dry fly opportunities for large browns rising around steelhead redds.

Here’s Jeff again with another one of many from today.  Despite the conditions he stuck with it and put fish in the boat!  Great job Jeff!

He also let me catch one, Thanks Jeff.
