Trout Fishing, Muskegon River in Michigan

Scott and his wife Nicole from Valparaiso, IN joined me for what turned out to be a good day of trout fishing on the Muskegon river in Newaygo Michigan.  What started out for Nicole as a  introductory course to dry fly fishing soon transformed into a fly fishing clinic as she had several hook ups in the afternoon.  Nicole did an excellent job picking up the casting technique very quickly!  She even let Scott land some nice trout as well. Great job today guys!

Good numbers of salmon are on the move in upper and lower sections of the river.  Water temps are starting to cool down toward that magic number.  Water levels are back up to around 1100 cfs.  Expect the salmon run to start early on the Muskegon river this year as we are already seeing gravel activity.  Due to cancellations, we have a few great fishing dates still available in October.  Give us a call to book your date.
