Bad To The Brown!

Bad To The Brown!
(Bert with a beautiful Muskegon River Brown Trout)

Here’s Bert from Rodney, MI with a beautiful naturally reproduced (adipose fin intact) Muskegon river brown trout sporting its amazing fall colors!

(Tale of the Tape!)

Ever since the Michigan DNR raised the keep level on brown trout to 15-inches on the upper stretches of the Muskegon river the native brown trout population has exploded both in numbers and in length.  Bert’s 20-inch river brown is the prime example of just how good the brown trout population has become on the Muskegon river.  What use to be the holy grail of a 20-inch brown is now become a normal experience fishing the Muskegon and its incredible brown trout population.

The king salmon run is in full swing on the Muskegon river.  With a delayed start due to warm weather and low water is extending the salmon run on the Muskegon as hundreds of new salmon keep coming up river along with fall steelhead and large rainbow and brown trout.  Good things are yet to come!  Great time to fish the Muskegon river!
