Muskegon River Brown Trout!

Muskegon River Brown Trout!
(Amy with a beautiful Muskegon River Brown Trout)

Here’s Amy from Madison, WI with an absolute Wall-Hanger of a naturally reproduced Muskegon River brown trout.  Congratulations Amy!

(Another look at Amy’s Muskegon River Brown)

Amy is one of the best fly anglers I’ve had the good fortune to fish with.  Over the past several years Amy has hooked several huge steelhead with me and this big beautiful brown trout is just another wonderful memory to add to the list!  Congrats Amy!!

(Muskegon River Brown Trout)

Ever since the Michigan DNR raised the keep level on brown trout to 15-inches on the upper stretches of the Muskegon river the native brown trout population has exploded both in numbers and in length.  Amy’s beautiful river brown is the prime example of just how good the brown trout population has become on the Muskegon river.  What use to be the holy grail of a 20-inch brown has now become a normal experience fishing the Muskegon and its incredible brown trout population.

(Let them Go! Let them Grow!)

The king salmon run is in full swing on the Muskegon river.  With a delayed start due to warm weather and low water is extending the salmon run on the Muskegon as hundreds of new salmon keep coming up river along with fall steelhead and large rainbow and brown trout.  Good things are yet to come!  Great time to fish the Muskegon river!
