Get Down With It!

Get Down With It!
(Muskegon River Brown Trout)

This brown trout struck the submerged dry fly just below the water column at the end of the drift. More times than not, trout follow the fly all the way to the end of your drift when your fly line straightens out just below the water surface behind you. First couple of pulls to retrieve your fly and bam! Fish on.

So, get down with it! Let that dry fly sink subsurface when you don’t see too many top water trout rises in the spot your fishing. You’ll be surprised how many more strikes you’ll have when you get that fly down below the water column and let it swing through to the end of your drift.

Drakes, caddis, and sulphur flies are present throughout the river system with caddis taking center stage as we approach mid-June. Water clarity and levels are back to perfect for this time of year.
