Please meet my new friend Vince from Columbus, OH with an absolute gorgeous native Muskegon river brown trout.

I’ve said it before and is worth mentioning again here the native brown trout population on the Muskegon river is absolutely amazing. Getting bigger and better every year since the DNR raised the keep length to 15-inches the browns are thriving well and Vince’s brown of a life-time is just a reminder. Great river brown Vince! Congrats my friend.

Please meet my new friend tipping the scales at 6′ 5″, 305 pounds of twisted Fighting WMU Bronco Steel. Gavin (Vince’s son) also from Columbus, OH area getting the job done by bringing in his largest steelhead of the day! Great job Gavin! Hell of a fight!

Nobody messed with us with Gavin in the front of the boat today! …lol!

The trout feeding behind the steelhead beds was on fire today with several large trout brought to the net today including this one tipping the measurement at 20-inches this trout transitioning into a steelhead ripped Vince’s fly on the retrieve.

Gavin with a chrommed out skipper (juvenile steelhead between 15 & 20-inches) that fought like heck! Several aerial jumps and drag screaming bursts, Gavin brought this firey one to the net!

Vince with an absolutely gorgeous monster native Muskegon River rainbow trout. Vince is an absolute “Lucky Rabbits Foot!” Seemed every time Vince literally picked up the fly rod he hooked some amazing trout and steelhead. This rainbow if the prime example! Absolutely amazing colors on this girl! Congrats Vince!

So nice for me to share with Vince and his son Gavin something I’ve known for over 30 years now, and that’s just how special of a place the Muskegon River really is. Producing world-class trout and steelhead for years, every year, and it just seems to keep getting bigger and better!

We want rainbows like Vince’s bow and brown reproducing for years to come on the Muskegon river.

Both Vince and Gavin originally hired me to learn fly-fishing for big game fresh water fish on the Muskegon river and learn they did. They picked up the C&D technique quick. Bringing several incredible trout and steelhead to the net! Was fun to watch.
With all this high water and perfect flows not seen in years, new steelhead keep migrating up-river offering up some excellent steelhead fishing all the way up through early June.
