Please meet my new friend Jeremy from Muskegon, MI with a beautiful crimson & chrome fall steelhead from the Muskegon River.

Interesting to see the long slender body of this male steelhead looks kinda like a skamania (summer strain steelhead) more native to the St. Joe and Manistee rivers where they were originally planted.
Also interesting to see the crimson red colors starting on his cheekbone so early which dates this steelhead to entering the Muskegon river system in late August to early September, similar to a skamania steelhead.
Skamania steelhead are very rare for the Muskegon and this one may have lost his way entering the Muskegon verses the Manistee river.

Steelhead are entering the upper stretches of the Muskegon and with the cooler temps and rain in the forcast more fall steelhead will migrate up the river system making mfor some excellent fall steelhead fishing in the weeks to come! Stay tuned!
