Muskegon River “May Run” Steelhead

Joe with a nice chrome Muskegon river steelhead

Here’s Joe with one of several bright chrome steelhead today.

This recent push of water has brought with it a push of new steelhead up the river system.  Not only the steelhead though, also witnessed several nice rises as big trout start to look up.

Now’s the time to start thinking about booking that dry fly trout fishing trip.  The very best dry fly fishing of the year on the Muskegon river is just around the corner.  The epic Gray Drake Hatch; Mid May thru Mid June provides the best dry fly fishing on the Muskegon river.

During this select time, large 18 to 30 inch rainbow and brown trout gorge themselves top water for the falling Gray Drake flies.  If you ever wanted to experience the ultimate dry fly fishing for trout on the Muskegon, book a trip with us for the Gray Drake hatch.  There is absolutely nothing like hooking a 20 inch+ brown trout on a vey light five weight fly rod.  Try us out, see what you think!!
