Muskegon River Steelhead Fishing Report 2/24/13

Set out today for steelhead on the Muskegon river and ended up getting a couple of really nice brown trout!

In the late winter, target the bait fish on the inward side of seams and bends.  Fish the sandy side of the bank, often times it’s the opposite side of the main run.  Doing so produces some excellent trout like the ones caught today.

These larger trout come up to feed on the smaller bait fish where the shallow water meets warmer temperatures providing excellent holding areas for these mass groups of bait fish.

Also managed to bring some very nice steelhead to the net like this chromed out female.  Not a bad day for a few hours of fishing on the Fly!
