One For Myself

Muskegon river steelhead

Muskegon river fall steelhead

After months of guiding trips watching clients catch fish; it was really nice to finally get a chance to put a line in the water myself!  Even though just a couple hours today, I forgot how fun it is to fight & land these steelhead!!

Check out this picture perfect pair of male and female steelhead caught one right after the other.  We want these guys reproducing for a long time to come on the Muskegon!

It’s a transitionary time right now.  Water temps & flow rate dictate steelhead movement.  Colder water temps are causing these steelhead to start transitioning between fall runs and winter lies.

Look for water temps to drop below 45 degrees tomorrow.  Warmer days ahead and rain will cause some much needed run-off triggering water levels to rise.  With it should bring more steelhead up the river system and set the stage for a good month end of November and solid month of steelhead fishing in December.
