Please meet my new friend, Luke from Chicago holding his absolutely incredible naturally reproduced Muskegon River brown trout!

Luke never fly fished before and wanted to learn fly fishing for fresh water big game fish and learn he did bringing this incredible natural Muskegon River brown trout to the net within the first few casts of the morning! Congrats Luke!

Luke, I was very impressed how quickly you picked up the fly fishing technique. From casting, running perfect drifts, hook-sets, to fighting / landing the fish! You have a very bright future ahead of you if you decide to stick with fly fishing!

Ever since the Michigan DNR increased the keep size to 15-inches years ago on the upper stretches of the Muskegon the brown trout population has exploded in both size and quantity making the Muskegon River a very special place to brown trout fish.
Despite the low clear water steelhead continue to enter the upper reaches of the Muskegon. Rain and colder weather in the forecast will only make the steelhead fishing better in the weeks to come!
