Please meet my new friends Liam and his Dad (John) from New Lenox, IL celebrating in style Liam’s first ever Muskegon River steelhead taken with a fly rod!

Liam’s holding his first ever Muskegon River steelhead / “Silver Bullet” taken with a fly rod! Congrats Liam! Great cast! Great drift! Great hook-set! Great fight all the way to the net!

Guiding exclusively on the Muskegon River all year long over the past 20 years straight; it never gets old seeing clients hook and land their first Muskegon River steelhead with me!
To see and experience the pure joy and excitement of that first take, hearing the blistering drag screaming as the steelhead bolts down stream, and to see the aerial assault of the never ending jumps as the steelhead tries its best to shake the hook form its jaw! All to be led to the net with one of the biggest grins on the clients face after such a pure adrenalin rush is so fun to watch for me and not to mention to experience for yourself!
Congrats Liam! Welcome to my addiction! Welcome to the Muskegon River Steelhead Club!

There’s no doubt Liam picked up the technique quickly bringing his second freshly minted chromed out hen to the boat! Awesome job Liam!!

With the recent push of water we are finally getting a nice push of new steelhead making their way to the upper stretches of the Muskegon.

Amazing how quickly Liam picked up the technique of casting, running the drift, hook-set, and fighting these magnificent Muskegon river fall steelhead on a fly rod!

Not to be out done, here’s John ….a.k.a Dad with his first ever Muskegon River steelhead taken on a fly rod. Great job John! Can’t let Liam have all the fun!

John’s “Tale of the Tape” bringing another fresh chromed out hen to the net is amazing in the fact all the steelhead we brought to the boat today were bright fresh chromed out hens / “Silver Bullets” signifying a new push of steelhead entering the river system with the recent increase in water levels.
New steelhead continue to enter the river systems as the daylight shortens with the time change and colder nights mixed with precipitation is finally raising the water levels triggering fresh steelhead to migrate up river!
With Thanksgiving Holiday soon approaching and friends and family coming into town, a fall steelhead trip is a great way to celebrate the Holidays and spend some quality time with friends and family in Michigan’s great outdoors fishing for some of the biggest and best fresh water Big-Game fish in North America!
We have steelhead trip availability over Thanksgiving week and the upcoming days. Click here to book a trip or inquire on availability!
