I’ve had the great pleasure of knowing Jack ever since he was a young man introducing him to dry fly trout fishing the Muskegon river at such a young age. Since then, Jack has learned so much about fishing the Muskegon. He’s become such an incredible fly angler over the years and has brought several beautiful steelhead to the boat during that time.
But the one wish Jack told me before hooking this beautiful Muskegon River Steelhead in this very secret spot is, “Jon, I’ve been fishing this run for years and have yet to land a steelhead out of it. Wish we could make it happen now!”
Well sometimes dreams come true especially when you put the time in and have the patience it takes to make your Steelhead Dream a reality! Congrats Jack! Steelhead continue to migrate up the river system seeking refuge in their winter lies which supply more food, cover, and security than spending winter in Lake Michigan.
Warmer weather and precipitation in the immediate forecast will raise water levels and bring more fresh steelhead upriver opening up some excellent opportunities at winter steelhead!
