Quest For Chrome!

(Ted and his daughter Anya holding Ted’s outstanding 16lb chrome hen steelhead from the Muskegon river)

(Ted’s massive 31 Inch, 16lb chrome steelhead from the Muskegon)

(Anya’s first ever steelhead taken on a fly rod last cast of the day)

After several attempts at hard fought battles with previous steelhead earlier today, 12 year old Anya got the job done hooking and landing her first ever steelhead taken on a fly rod the very last cast of the day!  Awesome job Anya!  After 8 hours of 30 mile an hour winds and bone chilling temps you earned the right to call yourself a true Fall Steelheader!  Welcome to the club!

(This is what it’s all about!  Memories of a lifetime!!)

  1. Jon:

Your style and willingness to work with novices, really made Anya (12 year old girl) very comfortable. She learned a ton from you during the course of the day, and is now comfortable and confident in her abilities to fly-fish — and to go after chrome steelhead!

Thank you for helping to teach the next generation how fulfilling it can be to catch-photo-release trophy fish while fly-fishing in outstanding natural conditions!

  2. WOW!! Great photos and post… Congrats Anya & Ted! Jon – you did it yet again. Another memorable trip for the Cominos Family that goes down in family history as a “first”, hopefully of many many more. Thanks for all the hard work of teaching, coaching and sharing your love of and passion for fishing and your superior knowledge of the river…

    We are grateful, once again!

    Best,
    Julie (the Mom)
