You remember it more when you gotta work for it. It’s one thing to hook large steelhead and another to get them in the boat. I think Mark would agree; it’s not easy, but so much fun to fight these powerful fish on light fly gear. The combination of the fight to getting it to the net is the sweetest reward!

Haven’t seen incredible flows like this on the Muskegon for almost two years. Excellent flows mixed with cool water temps from this spring has resulted in a prolonged steelhead run. New steelhead seem to arrive daily in different sections of the river.
An added benefit of these perfect flows have also set the stage for an incredible gray drake hatch. We already had an excellent stone fly hatch throughout April and very large size caddis flies taking center stage now with top water strikes on dry flies about to pop!
