Dry Flying For Browns!

Dry Flying For Browns!

(Muskegon River Brown Trout)

Finally starting to get more consistency with the dry fly fishing on the Muskegon.  This nice brown pictured above smashed a gray drake dry fly pattern and is a prime example of the trout starting to “look up” as the water levels start to drop.

This brown is pictured with my new Abel SDF fly reel.  I highly recommend these SDF fly reels as one of the best new premium trout reels to hit the market.  The new drag system on the SDF fly reel breaks away from the old cork drag system on the Super Series fly reels and changes to a more modern completely sealed carbon fiber/ stainless steel multi-disc drag system that is maintenance free and is much easier access to the quick change spool.

Caddis and gray drakes are the primary flies hatching right now.  If you get in the right spots, the drake hatch can be overwhelming at times.  Incredible to see first hand!
